Malene Wells

Malene Wells moved to the UK from Denmark in 1996 and discovered Pilates soon after. Having suffered from lower back problems since childhood she found that Pilates made a big difference to her back. She graduated from the Pilates Matwork Training Programme in 2016, under the tuition of Leila Coppock. She has enjoyedworking in local studios and with individual clients. Malene particularly loves seeing her clients grow in confidence, increase their body awareness, improve their suppleness and strength as well as achieving a sense of empowerment of their own body. Malene has a strong belief that emotional stress and trauma can have a detrimental impact on the body and is keen to explore ways of relieving these stresses through conscious movement, improved breathing patterns as well as the ability to truly relax through deep relaxation techniques.

Sarah Robinson

Sarah attended her first Pilates class about 15 years ago but it was only when she injured her back that she realised how beneficial Pilates is to keep you moving. She initially trained in Classical Pilates (based on the 34 Joseph Pilates exercises), she gained her Level 3 REPS qualification. She then retrained with Body Control Pilates in London where she learnt how to break down the classical exercises as well as introduce new ones to establish good movement skills suitable for all levels. She loves working with small props including halls, bands and weights to add fun and challenge bodies further. She is also trained in pre/post natal Pilates. Pilates for Seniors and Yoga

“Pilates is life changing and my passion. My classes are designed to be sociable and fun. Mindful of all Pilates principles and technique, designed to achieve results with a variety of teaching techniques to suit individual client requirements. I also specialise in one to one and remedial pilates.”

I am a fully qualified Pilates instructor and qualified in Exercise To Music in 1993. I have been running small group mat-based Pilates sessions in Ashtead since 2006. I specialise in core strength, back care, post-operative care, remedial, sports injuries, anti and postnatal and gentle stretch Pilates.  From my own diagnosis of breast cancer I offer my advise and the benefits of Pilates during treatment and dealing with the after effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgeryMy fitness background started at school and then I began teaching group exercise in clubs such as David Lloyd, Canons (now Nuffield), Virgin Active, LA Fitness, The RAC and The Rainbow Leisure Centre. I started teaching Body Balance and was introduced to Pilates which is now my passion. I have work closely with Ashtead Chiropractors and Ashtead Osteopathy offering Access Pilates to provide clients with a more personal and effective solution for postural and alignment issues and to ultimately increase core strength. I was trained by a qualified and practicing Osteopath with Pilates Solutions in the Pure Pilates method (Pilates Institute).

Catherine Lewis Chiropractor

Catherine graduated from the College of Chiropractic in Abingdon with a Masters in Chiropractic after four years of full time study and is now registered with the General Chiropractic Council. Since qualifying she has also completed a diploma in Sports Massage, dry needling and animal chiropractic.

She herself has received chiropractic care from the age of six, from her Mum who is also a qualified chiropractor. The human body has always fascinated her. She has been very interested in the biomechanics of the body and the role of chiropractic in facilitating the innate ability of the body to heal itself.

Her Mum being a chiropractor is a lot of the reason why she decided to become one. She was suffering from dull achy back and knee pain and also pain in both her ankles. Some investigation and research revealed she had severely flat feet. Where most people have well developed arches on the inside of their feet she has none. This was causing all sorts of problems with her lower limbs, putting a lot of strain on certain muscle groups. She couldn’t stand for long periods of time, her main concern was shopping! After seeing a podiatrist, and having custom made orthotics, chiropractic treatment has helped reduce her symptoms significantly.

She has always been involved in sport from a very young age. She has owned her own horse. She now has 3 horses and compete regularly doing one day events on my mare, Chrissie. She has played badminton since she was 11 years old, and still plays at club level. Other interests are classic cars, she has owned a classic Mini City since she first passed her test.
